There is a quiet magic to the Cornish coast in the autumn, the bite of salt in the air, the roar of the Atlantic breaking against the granite cliffs, and the fragile way light lingers over the shingle long after the summer crowds have gone.
For the past several months, I have been poured entirely into a story set right in that wild, salt-washed landscape.
It’s called Waves That Break. (ATM)
At its heart, this book is about what happens after the unthinkable happens. It’s about Laura, a young mother left adrift with her four-year-old son, Archie, in a stone cottage overlooking the cove. It’s about a dying husband whose final, selfless wish was to make sure his family wouldn't have to face the winter gales alone.
And it’s about Callum.
Callum, the steady, broad-shouldered boatbuilder and best friend who made an impossible deathbed promise. A man carrying his own fractures, his own fiercely guarded teenagers, and a quiet, unshakeable devotion that refuses to let anyone drown on his watch.
It is a story of slow healing, blended families, seaside workshops, messy kitchen tables, and the terrifying, breathtaking courage it takes to let love in a second time.
The finishing touches are being made, the tea is brewed, and the journey toward publication is officially underway.
