So, after my inspiring day in London, I have now got the first draft of my new book ready.
I've already had one person read through and she LOVED it.
Now I just have to finish tweaking the edits, the cover and blurb [the last one kills me every time].
Anyway, just for fun...which cover do you prefer...?

As some of you may already know from my social media, on Sunday, 13th July we lost our beloved "little scruff," Robbie, who passed away peacefully in his sleep.
For 15 wonderful years, Robbie brought an abundance of love, sometimes playful mischief, and so much joy into our home. Many a time he would sit beside me or under my desk while I wrote. The next one is in your honour little ‘bobbles.’
We are heartbroken to no longer have his floppy ears, wagging tail, and gentle presence by our side....
My writing journey began at thirteen with a short story called “Looks Aren’t Everything” – a dramatic tale of teenage love that probably involved far too many exclamation marks and not enough actual plot!
Then came my memorable GCSE English exam, where I was asked to write a two-page story. Clearly, I missed the memo about brevity being the soul of wit, because I handed in thirty pages! The story was called “The Runaway” – rather fitting, as my words have never learned to behave and stay...
My Self-Publishing Show Experience
You know that feeling when something unexpectedly wonderful happens? Well, that's exactly how I felt when I won two tickets to the Self-Publishing Show! Me – who never wins anything, not even a raffle at the village fête – suddenly had golden tickets to one of the biggest events in the indie publishing world.
So on 25th June, the hubby and I set off for London, armed with notebooks, enthusiasm, and a healthy appetite for both knowledge and a good meal. And...
There's something deeply vulnerable about sitting behind a table with stacks of your novels—stories you've poured your heart into—waiting to see if anyone will stop by. Will they pick up your books? Will they connect with the characters who have lived in your head for so long?
As a self-published author who typically connects with readers through a screen, Saturday's Indie Author Book Fair in Huntingdon was a leap into the unknown. And what a magnificent leap it turned out to be.
Morning Nerves...
When this landed in my inbox!
Nothing compares to seeing your book in a reader's hands against their personal library backdrop (and matching purple nail polish too!).
Her words: "One thing T.A. Rosewood does best is she knows how to destroy my emotions with words. And once again this book did it... I was sat in my car on my lunch break crying but absolutely loving the story."
As an author, there's no greater compliment than knowing Ruby and Grace's journey moved someone to tears. When she wrote,...
When a first-time reader becomes a forever reader... that's the dream!
Lorraine just shared this beautiful review that has me smiling ear to ear: "Such a beautifully written story that I couldn't put down. The emotional rollercoaster, as we are immersed in the lives of Grace, Ruby and their family and the incredible relationships built around them, made this a story I won't forget and will definitely be recommending!"
What touches me most is how she connected with the heart of the story—"In an...
As I sit here with my eighth novel freshly published and Robbie the Westie snoring at my feet, I can't help but reflect on the mysterious alchemy that turns a self-published book into a success story. After five years in this industry, I've learned one undeniable truth: reviews aren't just nice to have—they're absolutely essential for authors like me.
The Life-Changing Magic of Book Reviews
Did you know that leaving a review isn't just a kind gesture—it's a lifeline for self-published UK...
Easter weekend offers a welcome pause in our busy lives - a time for reflection, relaxation, and reconnecting with loved ones. While chocolate eggs and bunnies have become traditional gifts, books make a particularly meaningful alternative or addition to your Easter celebrations. Here's why books deserve a special place in your Easter weekend plans.
A Gift with Lasting Meaning
Unlike chocolate treats that disappear quickly, books provide lasting enjoyment and value. They can be treasured for...
Discovering Innovative Indie Reads
Are you tired of predictable plots and cookie-cutter characters? The world of indie publishing offers a treasure trove of boundary-pushing fiction that breaks free from conventional constraints. As we celebrate Indie Author Month, here's your guide to finding the most innovative independent voices in literature today.
Where to Discover Indie Innovators
The challenge isn't whether innovative indie fiction exists—it's knowing where to look for it. Here are the...
Why Indie Books Break New Ground
During #IndieAuthorMonth, let's talk about innovation!
Traditional publishing often follows tried-and-true formulas. As an indie author, I'm free to experiment with:
- Genre-blending stories that don't fit neat marketing categories
- Unconventional characters rarely seen in mainstream fiction
- Narrative structures that take creative risks
- Topics that might be considered "too niche" by big publishers
Some of today's most groundbreaking literary movements began with...
When you purchase one of my indie-published books, the financial breakdown looks substantially different to those of a traditionally published author:
- E-books: Authors receive 40-70% of the cover price (depending on pricing and platform)
- Print books: Authors receive 40-60% of the cover price after printing costs
- Audiobooks: Authors receive 25-40% through direct platforms
On a 1.99 e-book, I receive 1.36 directly. For a 9.99 paperback, after subtracting printing costs, I get 75p per copy!!!...
As we celebrate Indie Author Month this April, I find myself reflecting on the most vital component of my writing journey—one that isn't about word counts, cover designs, or marketing strategies. It's about you: the readers who bring stories to life.
The Unique Reader-Author Relationship in Indie Publishing
Traditional publishing places several layers between authors and readers: editors, marketing teams, publicists, and retail channels. As an indie author, I have the extraordinary privilege of...
As we celebrate Indie Author Month, I wanted to pull back the curtain and give you an authentic glimpse into what life as a self-published author actually looks like. Unlike traditionally published authors who can focus primarily on writing while publishers handle everything else, indie authors wear many hats—sometimes all in the same day!
Morning: Creative Time
My most productive creative hours are in the morning. With coffee in hand, I dive into my current manuscript before the distractions...
April marks Indie Author Month, a time to celebrate the creative spirits who forge their own paths in publishing. As an indie author myself, this month holds special significance—it's our time to shine and connect with readers who appreciate authentic storytelling free from corporate constraints.
Why Indie Authors Matter
We indie authors are the risk-takers of the literary world. Without the safety net of traditional publishing houses, we pour our hearts, souls, and often our savings into...
I love getting such amazing reviews for any of my books and when another author reads and reviews them - well, it's honestly incredible for me.
Julia Blake is an author and she did just that recently for my newest book 'Just One More'.
Check out her glowing five star review below!
