How Can Self-Published Authors Get More Reviews?

Now that we understand the importance of reviews, how do self-published authors encourage readers to leave them?

Here are a few strategies I use:

  • Include a Call to Action – At the end of my book, I gently ask readers to leave an honest review. Letting them know how much it helps me.
  • Use an ARC Team – Sending out Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) to trusted readers, book bloggers, or influencers in exchange for an honest review upon release helps build reader/author relationships.
  • Engage with My Audience – Interacting with readers on social media, through email newsletters, and in book groups is something I personally love to do. A strong author-reader relationship encourages reviews & mostly positive ones too.
  • Run Promotions and Giveaways – I try to offer free or discounted copies of my books in exchange for reviews, ensuring they comply with review guidelines.
  • Ask My Mailing List – I remind my VIP subscribers how valuable their reviews are regularly.
