This week, I was thrilled to see a story in our local newspaper about a boy who had read one of my children’s books.
Jovie had been very poorly and his mum bought him the book, ‘I’m Not Scared with Billy Brave’ which is now a firm favourite in their house.
Here’s what the article said:
Saffron Walden author Traci Rosewood’s debut children’s book ‘I’m Not Scared with Billy Brave’ inspired a young boy to overcome his fears about his battle with scarlet fever and numerous hospital visits.
Shortly after the book – the tale about a boy who got scared and didn’t feel brave on Halloween night – was published, local mum Georgia reached out to the author with a touching story about how her son Jovie often repeated the story’s catchphrase ‘I’m Brave like Billy’ to help him through his medication and tests.
Georgia said: “The story really helped distract him from what was going on. The book is still one of Jovie’s favourites and we read it regularly. It couldn’t have come at a better time for us as a family.”
Said Traci: “I wrote this story for my own son Billy over ten years ago and to hear that the story has helped anotheer child cope with such a worrying ordeal is amazing and truly heartwarming.”
Thank you Georgia and Jovie for sharing your story. I’m thrilled he’s feeling better and still loving the book.
