I’m sitting here with a cup of coffee, looking at the calendar, and I honestly can’t quite believe what I’m seeing.

In exactly seven days, my tenth novel, After Light, will be out in the world.

Ten books.

If you had told the thirteen-year-old version of me... the girl who had stories pouring out of her so fast she couldn’t control them, that one day she would have ten published novels, she would have thought it was a beautiful dream. If you had told me in my twenties, while I was publishing poetry, or during those busy years of marriage, running a business, and raising my children, I’m not sure I would have believed you then either.

But a chance meeting with Jojo Moyes reminded me of the spark I’d been missing. In March 2020, Reasonable Lies was born. And now, six years later, here we are at milestone number ten.

After Light is a deeply personal story for me. If you’ve been following along, you know I love to write about the things that connect us all; love, loss, family, and resilience. This particular story is about thresholds: the ones we choose, and the ones that choose us. It’s about the art of seeing, even when the light is fading.

As always, a lot of my inspiration for this world came from my travels. I wanted to capture that pace of life and weave it into a storyline that, above all else, makes you feel a little less alone. I wanted to give you a space to find comfort and strength.

To celebrate the countdown, I’ve included a little sneak peek at the very back of the book for what’s coming next, because the imagination never really shuts off, does it?
